The Kanawha Day Report Center is looking to hire a full-time Drug Court Counselor to assist in providing services and monitoring Drug Court clients. Applicants for the position must have at a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling and must possess Addictions Counseling Certification or demonstrate they are working to obtain it. Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and experience. Benefits are also included.

FMRS Health Systems, Inc. located in Beckley, WV has an opening in Raleigh County for a PEER RECOVERY COACH. This person will be primarily responsible for assisting individuals in establishing and maintaining recovery from addiction and mental illness.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Assisting in the development of an individual recovery action plan.
Facilitating peer support groups.
Assisting in navigating community resources.
Educating and supporting individuals in relapse prevention.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of two years demonstrated personal recovery experience.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of community resources.

IC&RC currently has a minimum 60-day waiting period following a failed exam. However, as of May 1, 2017, IC&RC will be moving to a 90-day waiting period.
Why do we have a waiting period? Waiting periods help protect the security of our examinations by prohibiting candidates from taking back-to-back examinations that may result in memorization of examination questions.
Experience
Education
High school diploma or jurisdictional equivalent.
270 hours specific to the domains. Six hours must be specific to counselor ethics.
Effective Oct. 1, 2017: 300 hours of education specific to the ADC Job Analysis.
Supervision (effective as of October 1, 2016)
250 hours with a minimum of 10 hours in each domain with an Associate’s degree in a related field.
200 hours with a minimum of 10 hours in each domain with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
On February 1, 2017 IC&RC removed the long case study from its ADC examination. The long case study was replaced with smaller vignettes approximately 1-2 paragraphs in length with 3-5 associated questions.

When obtaining CEUs for certification or re-certification, only 12 CEUs can be earned in a 24 hour period. If more than 12 CEUs have been earned in a 24 hour period, please provide written explanation. (as of April 1, 2013)
Professionals seeking re-certification for ADC or AADC must obtain 6 hours of addiction specific ethics CEUs. These CEUs must be NAADAC approved.
